Gerald Richard "Gerry" Koster was born on September 21, 1953 as the only child of Gerald John and Luella (Groves) Koster in Clare, Michigan.

He graduated from Lake High School near Toledo in 1971. That same year, he married Cathy Ann Lowe.

Gerry spent most of his adult life as a police officer. He ended his career spending 25 years on the Sylvania Township Police Department before retiring.

He and Cathy had three children and nine grandchildren at the time of his death on September 4, 2022 in Toledo, Ohio. Gerry was 68 years old. Cathy who was born on January 30, 1954 passed away on March 3, 2023 at the age of 69.
