Karen Louise (Berns) Wheaton was born on Friday, August 7, 1942 in Monroe. She was the first child of Walter and Madelyn (Hanson) Berns.

The 1950 U.S. Census shows them living at 18020 Kent Road in Dundee Township, Monroe County, Michigan.

She was a 1960 graduate of Dundee High School along with her first cousins, once removed, Ronald Edward Heiden and James William Heiden, and second cousin, once removed Bonnie (Heiden, Bruns) Mills. That's Ron, Karen and Jim in the picture to the right at a DHS reunion.

Karen married Roger George Wheaton on June 25, 1966. Her sister, Margie, was her maid of honor and sister, Gwendolyn (Berns) White served as junior bridesmaid. Future sister-in-law, Barbara Burgess was a bridesmaid and her future husband, Allen Berns, was an usher.

Karen and Roger owned and operated the Wheaton Pharmacy in Dundee and lived in Ann Arbor. She also worked as a secretary at the University of Michigan.

They had two children.

She died on October 4, 2017 in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the age of 75.

Karen, as a Mormon, was very involved in family genealogy and put a lot of wonderful work into the 1995 The Heiden Family book. She was a very special person and I'm glad I got to know here better during that process.
