Eva Marie (Berns) McCarthy was born on Friday, December 4, 1931 in Dundee Township, Monroe County, Michigan. She was the fourth child of Edna (Heiden) and Henry Berns.

She was a 1949 graduate of Dundee High School and worked as a secretary in the school office from 1950-54.

On November 20, 1962, she married Dennis Paul McCarthy in New Era, Oceanna County, Michigan. They were divorced in 1980.

Eva and Dennis had one daughter, Kelly.

In the late 1980s, Eva was working at Milliken's Department Store in Manistee, Michigan. Later, she moved to Hanover, Illinois and worked at various jobs including teacher's aide and librarian at a local school.

She died on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the age of 94 in Hanover, Illinois.
