Eric James Heiden was born October 19, 1984, the son of Dale and Patricia (Doe) Heiden and grandson of Robert and Roberta (Gall) Heiden.

He was a graduate of Ida High School.

On December 19, 2015, Eric passed away at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was 31 years old.
