James
Grant Getty, son of
James, Jr. and
Elizabeth (Willis) Getty, was born on August 7,
1870 at Central Lake, Antrim County, Michigan. At
the age of 38, he married Ruth Young on June 23,
1909 in Central Lake. Ruth was listed has having
been born in England in 1882.
1910 U.S. Census, James and Ruth were living in
Clearwater in Kalkaska County and his mother,
Elizabeth, age 64, was living with them. At that
time, he was listed as a farmer.
1920 & 1930 U.S. Census listed his father's
birthplace as "Irish Free State". James was living
at 206 Eighth Street in Traverse City, Michigan. He
was working as a real estate agent.
