Dorothy Jean (Downing) Hall was born on January 16, 1920 as the daughter of Walter and Vera (Grant) Downing.

She was married to Garth Hall who was born on October 30, 1912 and died on March 9, 1961 at the age of 48. Together, they had four children including:

1. Karen (Hall) Strahl

2. Barry Hall

3. Kathleen (Hall) Ledesma

4. Marc Hall

Dorothy later married John Doughty but they had no children.
