Simon Oliver, Sr. was born on December 8, 1806  in Ulysses, Tompkins County, New York. His father was Edward Oliver and mother was Bridget (Sager) Oliver.

He was married to the former Mary Wright and they had 13 children.

 

aged 41 arrived in New York from Dublin on October 19, 1848 aboard the Celeste.

Simon, Sr died on August 18, 1889 in Ridgeway, Lenawee County, Michigan and is buried in Ridgeway Cemetery.
 

1865 NY State Census - lists "Simeon" Oliver of Dryden in Tompkins County living on 100 acres of which 30 was "improved" and 70 was unimproved. The value of the farm at that time was $1,150 and he had $300 worth of livestock with about $30 worth of tools and implements. He harvested 3 tons of hay that year.
