Wilhelm or Wilhelmus Rehmann or Rahmen was born in 1737 in Lower Saxony, Germany. He was listed by the Latinized version as Wilhelmus in Catholic church records. His father was Jacob Rehmann or Rahmen.

He was married to Anna Catharina Kamps who was born in 1734. Their wedding took place on March 1, 1764 in a Catholic (Katholisch) church in the Rhineland district of Germany.

They had at least two children:

  1. Johann Carl Nicholas Rehmann (1766-1829)

  2. Helena (Rehmann) Noever (1769-1849)

Wilhelm died on August 29, 1817 in the town of Senden in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany.

Senden is a municipality in the Coesfeld district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Historically part of the Province of Westphalia within the Kingdom of Prussia, it is located in the scenic Münsterland region. Senden is beautifully bisected by the Stever River and the Dortmund-Ems Canal. It is situated roughly 15 kilometers (9 miles) southwest of the city of Münster.
The Rhineland is a historic region in western Germany along the middle and lower Rhine River. Annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815, it was officially organized as the Rhine Province (or Rhenish Prussia) in 1822. Today, this former Prussian territory is divided between the modern German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate

Of the ten families covered on this website, eight originated in Germany. Members emigrated to America from the mid to late 19th century.

The Heiden, Rambow, Knaack, Kanseyer, Dreier and Milhan families all lived in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin region (now called Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) We have followed the Roggerman family back to Rügen Island in the Baltic Sea.

So far, in the documentation for the German members of the Rehmann family, places in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate have appeared. We will continue to investigate this unusually widespread distribution in the future.

The Rehmann family originated in the region of Lower Saxony, Germany. The other German families included in this website came from the Mecklenburg Schwerin region. The Roggermans emigrated from Rügen Island just off the northern coast and the Heidens, Rambows, Milhans, Kanseyers and Dreiers lived in small villages in the middle of the region.
