 Marie
Georgeanna "Mary" (Behm) Rosenthal was born on
Sunday, December 11, 1881 at 329 New Market
Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the
daughter of
George W. and Sophia (Kempker) Behm.
On the 1900 census, she is living with her
parents and siblings at 2023 North Marshall
Street in Philadelphia.
On September 8,
1900 at the age of 18, she married Edward E. Rosenthal. They had four children.

Mary, her husband
and children were living at 261 Montana Street
in Germantown, Philadelphia by 1910. By 1920,
she was shown as head of household at 2023 N.
7th Street. In the 1930 report, she and her
family were at 148 Lehigh Avenue. This included
grandchildren Harold Schneider, Jr. and Charles
Edward Koelmel. Edna and her husband, Harold,
Sr. along with Josephine and her husband,
Charles William Koelmel lived there also. Mary
was listed as the proprietor of a boarding
house.
In 1940, her
children,
Josephine, her husband, Charles
William Koelmel and their child Charles Edward
along with Mae and her husband, John Ryan,
Jr. were living in the house on Lehigh Avenue.
Edward died on December 30, 1916 at the age of
37. He was buried in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery in
Philadelphia. At the time of his death, he was
listed as an iron dealer. Marie died on
November 13, 1958 at the age of 76. She is
buried in Lot 148, Shady Lawn, Hillsdale
Cemetery in Roslyn, Pennsylvania. |
