Franklin Edward Rehmann was born on Wednesday, July 4, 1883 in Glassboro, Gloucester County, New Jersey. He was the ninth and final child of Heinrich Frederick and Christina (Roller) Rehmann.

Circa 1908, he married Ella C. Conley who was born in February of 1880.

They had four children:

1. Mary Ella Rehmann (circa 1909- )

2. Anna F. Rehmann (circa 1912- )

3. Frank A. Rehmann, Sr

4. Viola Rehmann

In the 1900 census, at the age of 17, he was listed as an apprentice bottle blower. The 1940 census shows Ella as a folder in a "bleachery" with an annual income during the year of 1939 of $780.
