Donna Mae Burge, age 89, of Toledo’s Point Place community
passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 7, 2023
surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 8, 1934
in Monroe, MI to Lester and Lila (Viets) Heiden. Donna was a
graduate of Ida High School.
She married Howard Sedelbauer
in 1953 and they had 3 beautiful children together.
Donna
began her transportation career in 1960 working for Freightway Corporation where she remained for 20 years.
In
1981 she married her soulmate Charles Burge and enjoyed 23
wonderful, fun-filled years together boating to Put-In-Bay
during the summer and traveling to Florida in the winter. In
1983, Donna started her own trucking company - Shoreland
Transportation Inc. which she owned and operated until 1995.
In 2004 her husband, Charles S. Burge passed away and she
took over his business, C.S. Burge Inc. She ran the business
with her son, Roland, until 2020, retiring at age 86.
Donna
was an active member of the Toledo Yacht Club, holding many
offices over the years, including past president of the
Women’s Auxiliary. She cared deeply for her many wonderful
friends. A loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and homemaker, Donna loved playing card
games, tending to her beautiful rock garden and flowers, and
spending time with her grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husbands,
Charles S. Burge and Howard Sedelbauer; and brother, Robert
Heiden.
Surviving are her children, Alan (Harold Lindau)
Sedelbauer, Roland (Polly) Sedelbauer, and Connie (Ted)
Standiford; former daughter-in-law Emily Sedelbauer;
grandchildren, Nicholas (Julie) Standiford, Mackenzie
(Kevin) Flew, Ashley Sedelbauer, Harrison (Jessica)
Sedelbauer, Jessica (Adam) Barragan, Taylor (Skyler)
Erickson and Cory Sedelbauer; and great-grandchildren,
Renee, Isabelle, Charli, and Jack. Also surviving are
step-children, Charles (Dawn) Burge, Tracy Hudson, Beth
(Dan) Carr, and Becky (John) Runkel.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12 from 2-5 p.m. at Sujkowski
Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with
eulogies for sharing of memories at 4:30 p.m.
