Ervin Leo Klatt was born in Monroe, Mich. on Sept. 19, 1926. He was one of 12 children born from the union of the late Otto and Elsie (Heiden) Klatt.

Ervin enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Korean War. For many years, Ervin worked in maintenance until retiring around 1988.

Ervin was a quiet man who often kept to himself. He liked people and enjoyed children. He will be remembered as a very generous man, as he often gave to others without any expectation of having the favor returned. In his free time, Ervin enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers and watching wrestling on the television.

Ervin Leo Klatt, age 88, of Monroe, passed away at 8:05 p.m Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at Medilodge of Monroe. In addition to his parents passing, he was preceded by five brothers: Donald, Harold, Kenny, Herbert, and Jimmy Klatt; and two sisters, Linda Hucarski and Wanda Klatt.

To cherish his memory, Ervin leaves two brothers, Richard (Anita) Klatt and Robert Klatt, both of Monroe; two sisters, Marilyn Allred of Portage, Ind., and Norma Wood of Temperance; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. A private memorial service is being planned for a later date.
