Melvin E. Robbins, age 82 of Wapakoneta, died at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born February 23, 1936 in Ida, Michigan; the son of the late DeGarmo and Ada Heiden Robbins. On September 19, 1964 he married Jean L. Wimer, who survives.

Mr. Robbins was owner and operator of R & W. Dry Wall Company and Lake Amanda Camp Ground where he and his wife had run for 40 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. His memberships include the Spencerville American Legion Post 191 and the VFW Post 6772; Wapakoneta Am Vets 333 and the Eagles Post 691; and the Lima Moose Lodge. He will be remembered for his hard work, sharing a good joke, his famous soups, and he enjoyed playing golf and working with wood. Mel also was a good pool player, he taught pool and shot pool on leagues.

Survivors also include 2 daughters - Tina Robbins of Cleveland; DeAnna (Kevin) Geiger of Celina; 2 grandchildren - Beth (Cody) Liston and Tristan Kohn; 2 step grandchildren - Phil Rasawher and Ashley Muhlenkamp; a great grandchild - Ben Liston; 4 step great grandchildren; 3 brothers - Duane (Judy) Robbins of South Dakota; Larry (Bessie) Robbins of Michigan; Dick (Helen) Robbins of Florida; a sister - Sharon Shivley of Michigan; a sister-in-law - Sandy Robbins of Lima; a brother-in-law - Steve Wimer of Lima.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law - Tom Hodgkins; a grandson - John Geiger; 2 brothers - Bill Robbins and Roger Robbins.

Funeral services will begin 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
