Germans to America is a series of books which index passenger arrival records of people from German lands from 1850 to 1897. Each volume contains a chronological listing of the passenger lists, followed by an alphabetical index of each passenger in that volume. There are approximately 70,000 names in each volume.

The following information is generally given for each passenger: name, age and sex; and when given: occupation, country or province of origin, village of residence (many say "unknown"), and destination (many say "unknown" or simply "US"). Also listed is the name of the ship, date of arrival, and ports of departure and arrival.

  • It appears that Charles Roggerman arrived in America in 1881 or 1882. We are still researching to find an exact date and the ship records.

  • In 1848, William John Getty, the eldest child of James A Getty, Sr. (right) came to America. In 1850, James followed suit and William returned to Ireland to bring his mother and siblings to the U.S. in 1852.

  • We are still investigating when the Oliver Family first arrived from their home in England. One ancestor was born in 1806 in the state of New York so it was at least that long ago.
