Brenda L. (Heiden) Flaugher was born in Tecumseh, Michigan on June 23, 1961. She was the daughter of Gerald W. "Tiny" and Dorothy F. (Rathke) Heiden.

She married Paul E. Flaugher on June 19, 1982 at St John Lutheran Church in Dundee. They had three children.

Brenda was a member of the 1979 graduating class from Dundee High School. She was employed as a nursing assistant at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan. She and her family had lived in Omaha, Nebraska for a while before returning to Dundee.

Brenda was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking on Dixon Road near her home on July 7, 2012. She was 51 years old at the time of her death. Paul died on February 5, 2011. They were both buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
