Charles H. Getty was born on August 22, 1856 in Ridgeway Township, Lenawee County, Michigan. His parents were James, Sr and Matilda (McCaughey) Getty and he was their ninth and final child.

He married Ellen A. Deline on July 18, 1876 in Morenci, Michigan, and they had three children:

1. Herbert Charles Getty (1876-1963)

2. Alma Irene (Getty) Taylor (1879-1968)

3. Jessy Getty (1885-

Around the middle of 1885 Charles and his family moved to Faribault County, Minnesota, along with Peter's family, and their Cousin John's family, who had recently come from Ireland. 

Sometime after their move to Minnesota, Charles and Ellen were divorced. On March 28, 1894 in Fairmont, MN, he married Edith Budd and in 1895, they had their only child:

1. Wilbur Getty

Charles died on January 29, 1925 at the age of 68. He is buried in Santa Anna in Orange County, California. He is buried in the Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Anna.

On December 6, 1867, Edith was born in Fairmont, Martin County, MN. She died on January 31, 1945 at the age of 77 in Santa Anna and is also buried in Fairhaven Memorial Park.

Ellen who was born October 10, 1860 in Michigan, died in Anoka County, Minnesota on December 20, 1931 at the age of 71. At the time of her death, she was married to William B. Kirkwood. She is buried at Brooklyn Park in Hennepin County, MN.
 

"Charles' second wife, Edith M. Budd, was born in 1867 in Martin County, Minnesota, to William Hampton and Lydia Jane Swearingen Budd. In 1907 she and Charles, and her father, Mr. Budd, their son, Wilbur, the Grant family, and several other families from Fairmont, moved to Santa Ana, California. Charles and Peter had a falling out, so it was time for Charles to move on. Charles bought into several businesses, one being a laundry, but wasn't successful in any of them."
