Emma (Doerfel) Polster was born in July of 1862 in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Dorothea (Rehmann) and Julius Doerfel.

Around 1887, she married Otto H. Polster in Philadelphia and they had one child.

In the 1900 census, Emma and Otto were living at 1331 Tenth Street in Philadelphia. By 1910, they were relocated to 663 North Sixteenth Street and Emma was employed as a store keeper. The 1940 census shows them living in Hammonton, Atlantic County, New Jersey

Emma died on June 15, 1922 at her home at 641 North Sixteenth Street in Philadelphia. She was buried at Arlington Cemetery. Following her death, Otto married Emma's sister Amelia, in 1923.

Otto who was born in November of 1856 in Legenfeld, Saxony, Germany, arrived in New York from Antwerp, Belgium on September 9, 1881. The ship was the SS Hermann. He died around 1940 at the age of 84. He was buried at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton, New Jersey. During his working years, he had been employed as a type setter for a publishing company.
