Amelia (Doerfel) Polster was born circa 1867 in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Dorothea (Rehmann) and Julius Doerfel.

According to the records we have, it appears that she married her brother-in-law, Otto H. Polster in 1923 when she was 56 and he was 67. His first wife, Emma Doerfel who was Amelia's sister, had died in 1922.

Between 1920 and 1959 she lived in Hammonton, Atlantic County, New Jersey. The 1930 census had Emelia and her husband, Otto, living on a farm at 116 Chew Road in Hammonton.

Amelia died circa July 4, 1959 at Newcomb Hospital in Vineland, Cumberland County, New Jersey at the age of 92. Prior to that, she had been living at Well's Nursing Home in Hammonton.

Otto who was born in November of 1856 in Legenfeld, Saxony, Germany, arrived in New York from Antwerp, Belgium on September 9, 1881. The ship was the SS Hermann. In 1892, Otto became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

He died around 1940 at the age of 84. He was buried at Greenmount Cemetery in Hammonton, New Jersey. During his working years, he had been employed as a type setter for Hammonton Printing Company.
