Florence (Smith) Murray was born in July of 1888 in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Elisabeth (Rehmann) and Horace Smith.

In the 1900 and 1910 census reports, she and her family were living at 612 Wishart Street in Philadelphia.

Around 1910, she married John Murray in Philadelphia and they had one child, Horace Murray circa 1912.

By 1920, they were living at 3453 H Street in Philadelphia while the 1930 report shows them at 7133 Dittman Street in the city. In 1940, they resided at 4122 Elbridge Street and Florence's father, Horace W. Smith, was living with them. John was listed as a salesman for an auto company.
