Charles
John "Charlie" Roggerman or Roggermann (left) who
was
born February 1855 in Germany on
Rügen
Island is the earliest ancestor of this family
we have been able to find...so far.
He
emigrated to America in 1881
or 82 and eventually made his way to Monroe County, Michigan. In
November, 1884, he married Louisa S. Rehmann in Adrian,
Lenawee County, Michigan. Louisa was born in New Jersey
and we suspect that is where Charles originally met her
after arriving from Germany. From 1885 to 1890, they had
four children; Leonard,
Hulda (Fitzpatrick),
Ralph and
George. For some unknown reason, George chose to spell
his name without the second "r" as Roggeman.
Charles died at the age of 86 in 1941
of burns he suffered when he apparently fell asleep
while smoking while sitting in a living room chair. He was living with his son,
Leonard, in Dundee, Michigan at the time.

gathering information on Ralph's three siblings,
Leonard, Hulda and George.
