Through the 1950s and 60s, Dundee was the center of shopping for the rural and small town consumers in the area. The streets were lined with small, owner-operated shops such as Mannings Clothing Store, Weyher's butcher shop. Wilson & Meyer hardware, Gambles, Stuwes Pharmacy, Rod's Florists and Moore's candy/toys store. The Monroe County Bank branch, Roe's Insurance Agency and the U.S. Post Office were also on the triangle in the center of town. There were also restaurants and other recreational oriented businesses.

Known as PeeWee Wenzel, this man was my barber through my teenage years. Ma would give me $1.25 and I would walk into town from school and get a haircut in the late afternoon. Someone would pick me up later.
