Listed in the 1880 U.S. Census, August and Rika Heiden were shown as living on West 9th Street in Monroe, Michigan. At that time, they did not include house numbers on addresses. This was 7 years after they arrived in the U.S. in June of 1873

August was 42 years old and Rika was 39. Their children, Ernst (12), "Willie" (Wm Carl age 6) and Herman (4) were living with them. Heinrich who would have been 14 was not included. He may have been already "working out" and living with someone else nearby.

West 9th Street is a short side street west of Monroe Street. It is divided into two separate sections. As mentioned above, the Census report did not give a specific house number for their residence but, as shown in the 2025 picture above, there are several small houses on the street which might have been manageable for a newly immigrated family in the late 1800s.
