  In March of 1985, Monita
Fergus published a booklet on the history of the Getty
Family. The Gettys are related to the Heiden Family
through
Mildred (Roggerman) Heiden (right) and
Florence and
Gordon Toburen.
This
great study follows the Getty Family starting
with John Getty, Sr. (right) who was born about
1788 in The Parish of Portglenone, in what is now
Northern Ireland. It then goes to his son, James Getty Sr. born
in 1810 in Ireland. His son, George Kilpatrick
Getty and his wife, Naomi Russell, came to
America in 1852 and eventually settled in
Ridgeway Township in Lenawee County, Michigan.

website, Ralph Heiden, is the great grandson of one of
John's grandchildren, Ervin Leonidas Getty, this branch is
covered in greater detail. However, we are also
