After living at
138 Monroe
Street where their first child,
Harold Arthur was born in 1934,
Art and Mildred (Roggerman) Heiden
moved to 247 Rawson Street. It is about 1/2 mile
west of the downtown area and just north of Tecumseh
Street (M-50).
This, of course,
shows the house probably 50 or 60 years after they
inhabited it. I suspect the original house was just
the small part with the front door. The side and
back additions probably came later.
According to the 1930 U.S. Census Mildred's aunt and
uncle,
Veyirl and Dewey Wittkop were living at this
house so it would appear that Art, Mildred and
Harold lived with them for a while during this time.
Mildred's grandmother, Lena (Oliver, Getty) Monk was
also living here with her daughter, Veyirl
We do not know how long they lived
here but their second child,
Joyce
Wittman, was born at
134 Ida Maybee Road
in 1938. |
