ancestors and descendants
August Heiden (left),
the great grandson of the oldest ancestor, Friedrich
Heiden. August was born in 1838 in Gross Wokern,
Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. He made the journey to America in
1873 along with his first three children,
Heinrich,
Ernst and
Meta.
Generations 1 through 8
are complete from data we collected in preparation for
the 1995 Heiden
Family book. However, Generations 9 through 11 and, probably by now 12 or even 12, are very incomplete since we have not done a
major update on births for thirty years.
As you can see by the graphic, the number of direct
descendants that we have in our database is primarily populated by the
descendants of only one of Friedrich's great grandchildren,
August, the son of Friedrich's granddaughter,
Maria Heiden. Friedrich had at least four other
grandchildren and we have no idea how many more children
were born to those branches. It is amazing to think that
this one man born over 270 years ago may be the
direct ancestor of way over 1,000 people. |
